About MASDI …

Presented by James Madison University and Motion Mania, Mid-Atlantic Summer Dance Intensive is a pre-professional program designed for dancers who wish to improve and polish their dance skills in a positive and inspiring environment. Mid-Atlantic Summer Dance Intensive cultivates complete dancers by opening up them to the newest approaches in dance education and by providing a multi-faceted curriculum.

Dancers will be engaged and challenged while taking classes in:

~Hip-Hop ~Modern
~Ballet ~Theatre dance
~Tap ~Pilates
~Jazz ~Ballroom

Ages 14-18
Levels
Intermediate (minimum of 2 years of continuous dance instruction in either jazz, modern and/or ballet).

Intermediate/Advanced (minimum of 3 years of continuous dance instruction in either jazz, modern and/or ballet).

Auditions by video.

 

Location...

Mid-Atlantic Summer Dance Intensive is a two-week sleep away dance intensive held at James Madison University nestled in the inspiring and picturesque Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. JMU is a medium sized University about two hours west of Washington, D.C. on route 81 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.

Dancers will get to experience campus life with supervision from the MASDI faculty.
All campers will need to have their own transportation to and from JMU.

Performance…


A performance culminating the students experience at MASDI, will be held Saturday, July 26th at Goodwin Hall. Friends and family members are cordially invited to attend this event.


Residential Students…


Resident students live residence halls, double rooms. Boys and girls are housed separately. The dormitories also has vending machines, a community kitchen (equipped with a refrigerator and microwave), and a TV/Game room. Coin-operated washers and dryers are also available – bring your own detergent and a supply of quarters.
Campers must bring their own sheets, pillows, pillowcases, blankets and mattress pads for a single bed (extra long), as well as towels, washcloths, hangers and laundry bags. For more details please refer to the packing list.

Meals are served beginning Sunday, July 13th, for dinner and ending with Saturday, July 26th, breakfast.


Non-Residential Students…

Our Non-Residential students program includes; all dance classes Monday-Friday, lunch for 10 days at JMU’s Gibbons Hall, and participation in MASDI’s end of camp performance Saturday July 26th.
All dance classes will be held at Goodwin Hall.

MASDI is not responsible for transportation to and from JMU campus.


Dress…

Dancers must bring leotards, tights and footwear appropriate for ballet, modern, tap and jazz class (jazz sneakers and shoes), rehearsals and performance, plus cover-ups for meals. Around campus dress is summer casual.

To create a balanced experience for our dancers: our evenings are spent enjoying room decorating, movie night, pizza night, talent night, dance jeopardy
