Pre-Professional Program
MOTION MANIA has a program which accommodates dancers from 3 years old to Adult. We offer classes in Hip-Hop, Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern, Poms, and Pilates!
PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM
The Pre-Professional Program is designed to develop well-rounded young dancers. It was created to provide them with an exclusive experience to study with others who want to make achievement in dance a priority. The program teaches the rewards of discipline and hard work and increases self-esteem as students improve and receive accolades for their achievements. This exciting program also provides many opportunities for experiencing the joy of performance. Audition is required for admission into the program. During summer months, dancers may audition by appointment. There are many opportunities to continue their dance education over the summer months including day camps, evening classes and the Mid-Atlantic Summer Dance Intensive. This camp program is a joint venture between James Madison University's Dance Department and Motion Mania Dance Center.
MMDC Youth Dance Companies for ages 8-18 are part of the Pre-Professional Program.
Those who wish to study in the Pre-Professional program do not have to be a member of any of our companies.Acceptance into the program will automatically make you eligible to become a member of one of our four youth companies. The emphasis of study is in jazz and ballet technique. Additional studies are required in complimentary classes such as hip-hop, contemporary and tap. All dancers in the pre-professional program who are age 12-18 have been invited to perform at the Orange Bowl this year.
B & G Dance Factory is our competitive high school aged dance team. The team will compete in three nationally recognized competitions/conventions. This team will need to travel. The competitive team’s commitment is to take six classes per week, a two-hour rehearsal, and a monthly private lesson.
Cost: $3,200 ($320 per month payable monthly for 10 months)Diamond Company was developed for talented high school dancers who wish to dance on a highly technical level without the competitive/travel element. This company performs for community events. Commitment is 4 classes per week & an 1 1/2 rehearsal.
Cost: $2700 ($270 per month payable monthly for 10 months)Ruby Company was developed for dancers aged 11-14. This is an intensive company created for aspiring dancers. This team will do one competition in preparation for entering into the B & G Dance Factory in the future. This team will need to travel. Rubies take 5 classes per week, and an 1 ½ hour rehearsal.
Cost: $2850 ($285 per month payable monthly for 10 months)Pearl Company was created for the younger dancer that wants to develop their skills and perform within the community. Our younger dancers take 3 classes a week and attend an hour long rehearsal. Pearl Company age range is 9-12.
Cost: $2600 ($260 per month payable monthly for 10 months)The ages are an approximation; technique and style are the major variables for being accepted into a particular company.
Extra classes can be purchased at a company rate of 40% full price
