Kathleen Ferraro

Kathleen has always had a passion for the arts. Kathleen has been a part of the dance scene throughout London, New York, Atlanta, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia. She has received dual degrees from James Madison University in Dance/Theatre and Communication Studies. Kathleen has studied all forms of dance with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre and Paul Taylor Dance Company in New York City. Kathleen received her ballet training with the Atlanta Ballet, Joffery Ballet, Washington Ballet, Maryland Youth Ballet, and American Dance Institute. She has furthered her training by choosing to study dance abroad in the summer of 2006 and explore the European dance scene in London, England. Additionally, Ferraro's training has been influenced by individuals from the American Ballet Theatre and the Bolshi Ballet in Russia, world famous choreographer Septime Webber, as well as contemporary choreographer Troy Powell out of Washington, D.C

At James Madison University, Kathleen was part of the Associate Dance Ensemble, Contemporary Dance Ensemble, and the Virginia Reparatory Dance Ensemble. Her passion for the arts was recognized in the Frederick News Post, "Slice of Life," feature article in the summer of 2006. She has worked closely with choreographer Rafael Perdomo on professional duet works at Joy of Motion in 2004. At JMU she was awarded the "Dance Program Scholarship Award" and invited to attend the "American College Dance Festival" at North Carolina State University. Ferraro has continued to attend ACDFA in New Jersey in 2006.

Kathleen has been choreographing all her life. Her work has been featured and staged at James Madison University. She has recently discovered her passion for teaching dance and has been teaching ballet, jazz, and modern dance for the past five years.

Kathleen is currently dancing professionally with CrossCurrents Dance Company and MMDC's Professional Company in the DC metro area.
